Cove Cricket Club homepage
Cove Cricket Club is located in the North East corner of Hampshire close to parts of Surrey and Berkshire. The old village of Cove is now on the outskirts of Farnborough, the home of the world famous 'Farnborough Airshow'.
The club, first established in 1935, has steadily grown from its original “village cricket team” to the present day position of one of the premier cricket clubs in Southern England with one of the best club cricket grounds. Cove run five Saturday teams including an Academy XI that play in the Morrant Thames Valley League and one Sunday team that play a mixture of friendly and league cricket in the Three Counites Sunday Cricket League.
The Saturday league is based on time cricket with a maximum of 100 overs in the game with the team batting first able to use up to 52 overs. The Sunday league is a straight win or lose, 45 overs per side with fielding restrictions throughout the game.
The club has excellent practice facilities including two new state of the art outdoor nets, a bowling machine for one to one coaching and a large number of qualified coaches. During the winter, indoor practice sessions are arranged locally.
For many years now we have invested heavily into establishing a successful colts section to develop our club players of the future as well as District and County representative teams. The investment has seen the number of qualified coaches treble in the last couple of years. In 2007 we established our mini's section, providing cricket related fun on a Monday evening for players aged 4 to 7. In 2008 we launched a Cricket Academy with the objective of developing the technical ability and all-round game knowledge of our future 1st XI players. We run boys teams at U9, U11, U13, and U15 and girls teams at U13 and U15.
In addition to the on field activities, Cove work hard to encourage the players families to become part of the club and run several family oriented social evenings throughout the year.
